We headed across the border to Naracoorte in South Australia for a weekend of shows on Friday. I did this weekend last year, and a group of us agreed then to come back and organised accommodation well in advance. Leading up to the date I thought I was a little silly to make such a committment when the weather could still be so hot, but boy was I glad in the end that I did! Tortik (Gr Ch Armahani Heliodorr Halu (AI) RA JC) ended last year needing two more Best in Groups to be eligible for his Supreme title. And we wowed me this weekend by gaining both of them in two days! Thank you to Western Australian judges C Seeber and P Campbell for awarding him so highly. It was a super exciting finish to the great campaign Tortik and I have had together. Also a huge thanks to Tortik's mum and dad, Kat and CJ. They have been so super supportive since the day they took little cake home, and have put up with all sorts of interference in their life as I whisk their boy out of their backyard on such a regular basis. Not to say Tortik is now retired, because I fully expect to have him out in the ring still a bit. But we can relax a little and keep his showing for more special occasions. You never know, that might give me a chance to get some of the younger (not so young anymore) boys out once in a while!

We had a sequence of local shows this weekend, including the first CACIB show in our home State of Victoria. It was always going to be a competitive one, so while I was up for a good weekend I didn't want to have too many expectations. Baby (Am Ch Ch Calaban's Dirty Dancing RA ET JC (Imp USA)) started off with a bang, gaining the bitch challenge and RUBOB at the first show, and she continued on that theme. Showing off her heart all weekend to earn all three bitch challenges on offer, and her third CACIB. She lost all of her coat over the last couple of weeks, so I can only assume the reduction in weight had her feeling good, because she really was shining. Tortik (Gr Ch Armahani Heliodorr Halu (AI) RA JC earned the reserveCACIB for males. And we brought Taija (Ch Neut Ch Armahani Crystal Cuovgat) out of retirement for Victoria's inaugural neuter show where she was BOB, and shortlisted in group. |
