Bennigan becomes an Australian Champion
Another show day at the Castlemaine and District Kennel Club today.
I was lucky enough to get to be there when our handsome Bennigan (Armahani Heliodorr Hulivili (AI)) co-owned with Vanessa Brotto of Articmal Kennels, gained a nice 11 point challenge to earn his Australian Championship, proudly handled by Alex Brotto, who has taken Benni to the majority of his wins!
Benni is Alex's first show dog and she has done an incredibly great job with him, learning so fast in such a short time.
Today makes Bennigan the first of the Heliodorr's to earn his title, and we couldn't be prouder of this young man.
Way to go team Benni!

Baby becomes an Australian Champion and Bennigan goes Runner Up in Group
It was a lovely day at the Daylesford & District Agicultural Society's championship show today, spending time with a bunch of other Lappie enthusiasts.
Showing where we do, Baby is regularly up against very tough competition with some of the nicest mature girls in the country, so I don't have high expectations for each show, but it sure makes the wins all the sweeter when they do come. We've been steadily racking up those points, however, with some exciting wins, and I was thrilled to earn the Bitch Challenge again with her today, giving her the final points she needed to become an Australian Champion. Pending approval she'll now be known as Aus Ch & Am Ch Calaban's Dirty Dancing (Imp USA). She followed up with Runner Up to Best of Breed in a very nice win.
Best of Breed was no other than our young Bennigan (Armahani Heliodorr Hulivili (AI)) co-owned with Vanessa of Articmal Kennels, another youngster who is also showing so much promise. It was all the more special, because with his young handler Alex out of action today, I got to take him into the ring.
Better yet, I got to keep on the end of the lead for Group Specials, and was very excited when our judge Miss J Cook, awarded him Runner Up Best in Group and Intermediate in Group! This is Benni's second RUBIG, and he is only just 18 months of age!
I hear, that at the other end of the State, Lumi (Aus Ch Armahani Diamond Davvir (AI) CD RA JD AD ET) was out showing in Wodonga, gaining yet another Best Australian Bred in Group! Way to go Bianca.

Veikko earns her Flyball Masters title
Back competing in flyball today with her team the Southern Cross Solar Flares has been Veikko (Aus Ch Armahani Diamond Dansut (AI) RA ET HT AFCh) at the Tuggeranong Fun in the Sun Flyball Competition.
Her team, competing in 1st division, came 1st placed, and then went on to be awarded Champion of Champions.
This competition also gave Veikko the points she needed to earn her Flyball Masters title, so yet again one of the Diamonds will be changing their name! Who can keep up! :D

Lumi's first babies are born at Varulv Kennels
While it has been a long time since babies have appeared at Armahani, we get to share in some of the excitement when our boys become Daddies!
The latest to become a father for the first time is our handsome Lumi (Aus Ch Armahani Diamond Davvir (AI) CD RA JD AD ET).
Congratulations to Jess at Varulv Kennels on the birth of her first litter, to her girl Dukino (Aus Ch Taigakoira Aitosas Davvir).
There were 7 pups born (the last being unexpected after only 6 showed on x-ray), with 4 girls and 3 boys. All pups are black tanpoint.

Digger earns her Australian Championship
News in from the ACT that our little girl Digger aka Flicka (Armahani Goldstone Ginttal (AI)) earned the final point to make her an Australian Champion this weekend!
Digger is the first titled sable coloured Lappie in the ring in Australia, and it has been great to see the judges here not put off by her "unusual" colour.
Congratulations to owner Linda, and thank you for all the care and love you give our little red girl!

Biggest show weekend of the year
Once again it has been another couple of months of failing dismally at keeping news up to date.
Lumi (Ch Armahani Diamond Davvir (AI) CD RN JD AD ET) over that time has managed a few Australian Breds in Group: at the Wagga Wagga Show Socity under Mrs S Bownds on the 3 October, at the Forbes Kennel Club under Mr R Carpenter (QLD) on the 16 October, and Mr G Ness (QLD) on the 17 October. Just this weekend, on 1 November he went Runner Up Best in Group at the Albury and Border Kennel Club under Ms J Ford.
Bennigan (Armahani Heliodorr Hulivili (AI)) has been doing us very proud with some great wins with handler Alex, earning Best Junior in Groups at the Kerang & District Agriculture Society under Ms S Mashford (Vic) on the 5 October, and at the Ballarat Dog Club under Mr A MacAndie (Vic) on the 10 October. A week later he went even better, earning his first Runner Up Best in Group at the Royal Geelong A & P Society under Ms H Furbur (NSW) on the 17 October!
That weekend, on the 16 October, our little Digger (AKA Flicka) (Armahan Goldstone Gilaidit) went Best Junior in Group at the Southern Highlands Show in NSW.
This weekend was the big one! Our FLCV specialty show on Saturday, followed by three more days of showing over the Sunbury festival of shows over the Melbourne Cup weekend, our biggest show weekend of the year!
Saturday's specialty under Mrs E B Nordin (Sweden) and Mrs Debbie Parker for property classes - was such a huge one - with 9 of my guys entered (down to 8 on the day).
Our results (in order in the ring) were:
Bennigan (Armahani Heliodorr Hulivili (AI)) - graded Excellent and 2nd (out of 6) in the Junior Dog class
Tortik (Armahani Heliodorr Halu (AI)) - graded Excellent but unplaced in his class, but made up for it later in the day in property classes going 2nd in Best Coated Dog and 2nd in Owner, Breeder, Handler
Nugget (Armahani Goldstone Gonagas (AI)) - his first time in the ring very professionally handled by Shell and doing an awesome job - graded Excellent, unplaced in his class, but also making up for it in property classes by going 2nd in Best Headed Dog
Louis (Sup Ch C'est Louis Armstrong des Chevaloupsgreg CD RAE HSAs (Imp USA)) - graded Excellent and 1st in the Open Dog class (out of 5), and Best Opposite Sex Open in Show behind the eventual BISS winner
Kajo (Armahani Heliodorr Hohde (AI)) - graded Excellent and Best Junior in Show out of a total entry of 7
Baby (Am Ch Calaban's Dirty Dancing (Imp USA)) - graded Excellent and Best Intermediate in Show out of an entry of 10, in property classes 3rd in a very large entry in Best Gaited
Vaalia (Armahani Emerald Eliosa) - graded Excellent, unplaced in class but kept getting some big looks from the judge, and I was just so very proud of what a sterling job she did - can't get over how she has turned around in only about 4 shows from being so timid in the ring to strutting around like it's the best place on earth!
Koda (Armahani Fireopal Fitmat) - his first time showing in Neuter Dog - graded Excellent and 1st (out of 2), Best Opposite Neuter in Show, and prompted the judge to say he was the best of all of my males
Mischa (Ch & Neut Ch Armahani Bloodstone Bilaidit RE) - graded Excellent and 2nd (out of 5) in Neuter Bitch Class
Freya (Armahani Goldstone Geassi (AI)) - graded Very Good, and unplaced in class, but the judge was very apologetic that she really liked her but couldn't take her higher because she just WOULD NOT put her tail up on the move .... until of course her judging was complete and then it came up magnificently LOL
Emmi (Gr Ch Lumiturpa Emmi CCD RE JD HT (Imp Fin)) - graded Excellent, 1st and Best Neuter in Show (I was told by the critique writer after that she was the dog the judge raved about the most and I have to admit I was a bit like - "of course, SHE'S EMMI!!!" - LOL so proud of this gorgeous gorgeous girl).
Sunday was the Working Dog specialty under judge Mr M Kipina (Finland), where I was more sensible and just had the three dogs entere. Tortik was Best Junior of Breed, Louis 2nd in Open Dog Class and Baby 2nd in Intermediate Bitch Class.
Monday was the Vic Women's all breeds show, with our judge being Mr R Frost (USA). Although I couldn't handle at this show myself; Tortik and Baby were incredibly well handled by Vanessa of Articmal kennels, and I finally got a chance to watch my dogs from the sidelines. Tortik was Best Junior of Breed, and then onto Best Junior in Group! Baby was Best Intermediate of Breed (with a huge entry of I think about 12), going on to be shortlisted down to a final 5 for intermediate in group.
Then onto Tuesday (with hardly any energy left!!!), again with both Tortik and Baby. This was the Sunbury Canine Club - our biggest all breeds, single day show in Australia, and while it wasn't Baby's day (3rd in her class), Tortik simply blew my mind! Under judge Ms L Brand (South Africa) he took a 24 point BOB, followed it up by being shortlisted down to the final 6 in group, and then took Junior in Group. Onto General Specials, with all the other Lappie people long gone for the day, and me with so much nervous energy you could bottle it to power the city, and Tortik more than a little over it but working really hard. Very very proud to say he went Best JUNIOR IN SHOW under judge Mr M Kipina (Finland). What a day!

An amazing few weekends for the Diamonds
It has been such an amazing time of achievements for our Diamond duo, that I haven't had a chance to keep up with the website updates!!
June 27 saw Veikko (Ch Armahani Diamond Dansut (AI) RA ET HT AFCh) competing in the obedience ring, and gaining her second CCD qualification with a score of 92 and a 4th place at the MacArthur Obedience Dog Club under judge Miss K Arkins.
In July she hit the agility ring, earning her first two Novice Jumping quallies over the weekend of 11-12 July at the Agility Dog Club of NSW under judge Mrs J Taylor, and the Australian Shepherd Club of NSW under judge Mrs K Edwards! She followed it up a couple of weeks later with her first time in the lure-coursing trial ring, on the 26 July at the Dogs NSW Sporting Committee Inaugural Lure Coursing Trial, with her first Junior Coursing quallie with a score of 168 under judge L Perry. Just one week later, on the 1 August, at the Hawkesbury Dog Club she earned her third Novice Jumping quallie under judge Mrs H Northover, with a 1st place (!) earning her JD title!!! What a girl!!!
Her brother Lumi (Ch Armahani Diamond Davvir (AI) CD RN JD AD ET) has refused to be outdone!! On the 19 July he competed in two rally trials at the Albury and Border Kennel Club, obtaining two Rally Advanced quallies with scores of 79 under judge R Probert and 80 under judge C Giles.
Then this weekend he hit the show ring ..... boy did he hit the show ring!!! At Wagga Wagga All Breeds Kennel Club on the 31 July he went Best In Group and then Runner Up Best in Show under judge Mrs G Hovey-Jacobs, followed by Runner up Best in Group the next day 1 August under judge Mr I Rasmussen, and then making do with Australian Bred in Group on 2 August under judge Mr G Winch. What an amazing day!!
If those Diamonds could only slow down I might be able to keep the website more up to date ;)!!

Louis babies born at Kiehtova
We'd like to extend a congratulations to Adrian and Carole on the birth of the first litter at Kiehtova Finnish Lapphunds to their girl Bera (Ch Taigakoira Bierdni Bera). Our boy Louis (Sup Ch C'est Louis Armstrong des Chevaloupsgreg CD RAE HSAs (Imp USA)) is the proud sire of these precious puppies.
We didn't expect Louis to be a sire again, not the least because I knew his fertility had dropped considerably. But when Adrian and Carole explained what they were aiming for, I agreed to give it a go, in spite of our repro vets scepticism ;). It was with much excitement that we learnt the news that these miracle babes were on their way.
In true Louis style of producing mostly girls in his younger years and mostly boys in his later years, there are 5 boys and just the one little girl. Two of the boys are cream and the rest black and tan.
We look forward to watching these puppies grow. For information on the litter and their availability please refer to the Kiehtova website directly for contact details.

Tortik goes Best of Breed at the Vicorian Spitz Breeds Championship Show
One of our big shows of the calendar is always the Victorian Spitz Breeds Championship Show. Last year Louis (Sup Ch C'est Louis Armstrong des Chevaloupsgreg CD RAE HSAs (Imp USA)) was Best of Breed at this show, and then walked away with Runner Up Best in Show, so it was lovely to arrive this morning and be handed a trophy momento of his RUBIS win from the year before.
But this year it was a youngsters time to shine, with young Tortik (Armahani Heliodorr Halu (AI)), at only 12 months and just in the junior class, going Best of Breed, and earning a very satisfying 20 points toward his title in the process.
Tortik is really coming along and turning into quite the handsome lad (and certainly keeps me on my toes in the ring with his naughty ways as a young teenage boy)! I have high hopes for more lovely achievements to come.

Runner up Best in Group for Lumi
It was lovely to hear more great news from Bianca this weekend, with Lumi (Ch Armahani Diamond Davvir (AI) CD RN JD AD ET) transferring into the show ring.
At the Parkes and District Kennel Club, he earned himself another Runner Up Best in Group (Group 2nd) under judge Ms C Timms.
Fantastic work yet again!

Lumi earns his Endurance Test title
Another title for Lumi (Ch Armahani Diamond Davvir (AI) CD RN JD AD) to add to the end of his name this weekend.
This time he and Bianca competed for his Endurance Test (ET), which involves a 20km run over three legs with a short break and vet check inbetween. Bianca certainly had some very funny stories to share about just how naughty Lumi was duing his test, resulting in several accidents and near misses.
But this one is largely about fitness, and despite the antics, Lumi showed he certainy had the endurance to make it through, earning his ET title to keep up with his sister!

Junior in Group for Baby
It was our turn out showing this weekend with Baby (Am Ch Calaban's Dirty Dancing (Imp USA) at the Seymour & District Kennel Club's championship shows.
There were only a few of us Lappie people showing, but it was still a lovely time together, made all the better with some glorious weather giving us a reprieve from the cold and wet as winter heads toward us.
Baby was Best of Breed both days, and did me very proud by coming Junior in Group in a simply enormous (and competitive) junior line up today under judge P Hartwell.

More success for the clever Veikko (Ch Armahani Diamond Dansut (AI) RN ET HT AFDCh) at the Hills Dog Club rally and obedience trial in NSW today.
This clever girl not only earned her third Rally Advanced pass with an excellent score of 91 and a 2nd place, giving her her RA title. She also managed her first Community Companion Dog pass with a score of 95 and a 3rd place in the obedience ring.
Super work Veikko and Shell!

Saying goodbye to our beautiful Schatje boy
Today was a day of sheer heartbreak as we said goodbye to our beautiful Keeshond Schatje (Mijke Zavier CDX HT).
There are never the right words to describe just what a dog means to us, or the pain their leaving creates. Schatje was truly just a beautiful soul, in looks and in temperament. He burst into our arms on first meeting, the cutest most adorable thing we had every seen, with eyes shining with sheer mischief! Oh so naughty as a puppy, and oh so incredibly smart, he led me on the path I arrived at, with dogs such an important part of my life.
His life was one of infectious joy, and a 100% dedication to every moment (particularly when that involved food!!!). The best dog I have ever trained, my devoted companion, a boy who was convinced he was one of the humans in the house rather than one of the mere dogs, it is impossible to imagine life without him.
He is free from his old man's body now, no doubt running and jumping like he did when he was young. I hope there is someone there who can give him a rip-roaring game of tug and is happy to throw a ball for hours! Love you Schatje-boy!

Jumping success for Lumi and Veiko
Both of the Diamond stars continued their impressive ways this weekend, Lumi (Ch Armahani Diamond Davvir (AI) CD RN JD AD) in the agilty ring and Veikko (Ch Armahani Diamond Dansut (AI) RN ET HT FDCh) in flyball.
Yesterday Veikko, competing at the Hawkesbury Agricultural Show "Howling in the Hawkesbury" Flyball Competition, saw her team, the Southern Cross Flares come 1st place in Division 5. Her performance saw her get the final points she needed to earn her Australian Flyball Dog Champion title. Well done Shell.
Her brother Lumi was off competing for the weekend at the Kyeamba Kennel & Training Club's agility trial. Yesterday he earned his second Jumping Dog Excellent qualification with a third place, and then today his second Agility Dog Excellent qualification also with a third place. Well done Bianca.
Awesome work!

Fun at the border challenge
This weekend was the joint "Border Challenge" between the Finnish Lapphund Club of NSW and the Finnish Lapphund Club of Victoria, a great fun weekend at the trio of shows held by the Deniliquin and District Kennel Club in Albury. It is the third weekend the challenge has been held, and the second I've participated in, being a bit too busy with baby pups last year.
I wasn't able to make Friday's show, but headed up to Albury that day, arriving to say hello to everyone at the end of the day, huddled in gazebos as they attempted to keep dry.
The poor weather sure continued with Saturday being a complete wash out. Sunday's weather was a little better, but we were still ankle height in water as we attempted to run around the ring.
Still we managed to have a great time, catching up with friends, and watching the differences in judging that always emerge with different judges and such a vast array of Finnish Lapphunds of type, size and colour in the ring.
While we didn't do anything special on Saturday, Sunday saw both Tortik (Armahani Heliodorr Halu (AI)) and Baby (Am Ch Calaban's Dirty Dancing (Imp USA)) shortlisted for their challenges. Tortik went on to get Puppy in Group and Baby was shortlisted for Junior in Group. Emmi (Gr Ch Lumiturpa Emmi CCD RE JD HT (Imp Fin)) then went Neuter in Group.
We were certainly happy to get back to a dry house though!!

Baby's Australian show debut with BISS
What an amazing debut it was for our new Baby (Am Ch Calaban's Dirty Dancing (Imp USA)), showing for the first time in Australia at the Finnish Lapphund Club of NSW's specialty championship show!
We took the trip up to Sydney for the show and Sydney Royal judging, hoping Baby would do nicely and place in her class - the biggest at the show. But she by far exceeding our expectations, under judge P Hartwell (NSW), going not only Junior in Show, and Challenge Bitch, but BEST IN SHOW!!!
And to think I didn't even get to handle her to the final win, with big thanks to Bianca Ralphs who did the honours there! Instead, I was in front with Louis (Sup Ch C'est Louis Armstrong des Chevaloupsgreg CD RAE HSAs (Imp USA)) who surpassed all odds (given six weeks before the specialty I was sure he wouldn't be showing given how injured he was) to win Dog Challenge, Open in Show and Runner up Best in Show!
It was a great show all around for the Armahani kids. Other class winners included Tortik (Armahani Heliodorr Halu (AI)) going Best Puppy in Show, with Digger (Armahani Goldstone Ginttal (AI)) Best Opposite Puppy in Show. And Lumi (Ch Armahani Diamond Davvir (AI) CD RN JD AD) Best Opposite Australian Bred in Show. Mischa (Ch Armahani Bloodstone Bilaidit RA) also placed 2nd in the Neuter Bitch class.
Today we finished off by showing at breed judging day at Sydney Royal. While not as spectacular a day as the specialty for Armahani, our two young stars again did very well, with Baby winning her class and then going Reserve Bitch Challenge, and Tortik going Best Puppy of Breed.

An Armahani picnic, agility title for Lumi and puppy in group wins for Digger
With little Veikko (Ch Armahani Diamond Dansut RN ET HT FDCh) visiting with owner Shell for the week it seemed too good an opportunity to pass to have a bit of an Armahani picnic so she could see a few of her babies for the first time since they left at 8 weeks. So yesterday we gathered at Albert Park for a bit of fun. It was wonderful to see Nugget, Freya and Tiger (three of the Goldstones) almost grown up, as well as Heisenberg and Vaalia from the Emerald litter and Kajo from the Heliodor litter.
Meanwhile, Veikko's brother Lumi (Ch Armahani Diamond Davvit CD RN JD) was competing in Albury with Biance at an agility trial. We were very pleased to hear he gained his third and final AD quallie, earning him his title, as well as a nice clean run in his jumping excellent class, unfortunately not quite coming in on time.
Today it was Digger's (Armahani Goldstone Ginttal) turn to have some fun, showing with Linda at the ACT Amenties Show where she earned Puppy in Group at both the AM and PM shows. Well done little girl!

He gained a qualifying run in both Jumping Excellent (JDX), his first with a 2nd place under judge P Looker. And a qualifying run in Agility Novice (AD), his second with also a second place under judge H Mosslar.
Fantastic work for Lumi and his talented owner/handler Bianca!

Our new Baby arrives
Today we welcomed the new precious member of our little family. Introducing Am Ch Calaban's Dirty Dancing – aka Baby, who came out of quarantine today to join us.
Seven years ago, I farewelled the little puppy I called Dancer, as she boarded a plane for her long journey to her new home in America. Today, her grand-daughter, my own little dancing girl, burst into my life. Thank you so much, Kit, for sticking with me through such a long term plan and gifting me with this beautiful little girl.
It would be completely remiss of me not to recognise some of the handsome boys behind Baby. Her sire Jameson (Can Ch Shadagrace Cassbar Sir Vernor) of course, her grandsire, Louis' best childhood mate, Pilgrim (Lecibsin Kumppani), and not forgetting her great grandsire my own beloved Kulta!!!
But it is her female line which tugs at my heartstrings and makes Baby's arrival feel like a coming home. Her dam is the beautiful best in national specialty winning Am Grand Ch Calaban Armahani Rakkantta (Bindi). Herself the daughter of my home bred winner's bitch in national specialty winning Am Ch Armahani Amethyst Aatto (Tanssija). Herself the daughter of my very own beloved, best in specialty show winning Aus Grand Ch Lumiturpa Emmi (Emmi). Baby has some mighty women to live up to!
Welcome home darling girl!

Tortik's first challenge points
We don't do a lot of showing this time of the year when it can be a bit too hot, but we ventured out today to the first day of the Australia Day International Dog Club's weekend of shows to exhibit under Swedish judge Mrs A Ulltveit-Moe.
Only little Tortik (Armahani Heliodorr Halu (AI)) was with us, as my new youngster to have fun in the ring with, and it was with great delight to receive his first dog challenge, with a very nice 13 points, following it up with Runner Up Best of Breed.
Tortik is only 8 months old, and still down the end of the line in the Minor Puppy class, as well as being exceptionally cheeky and naughty, so it is pretty special to be pulled out.
Big thanks to Tortik's owners, Kat and CJ who let me have fun with this special boy, even when I do threaten not to bring him home. I'm hoping we will have lots of ring fun together over this year.

Veikko earns her first rally quallie for the year
Starting the year off with a bang was Miss Squiggle (aka Veikko) (Ch Armahani Diamond Dansut (AI) RN ET HT FDCh) tonight!
At the Manly & District Kennel & Dog Training Club's Rally Trial under judge Mrs S Hutchins, she earnt her second Rally Advanced qualification with a lovely score of 91 and a forth place.
A big congratulations to Squiggs and her owner/handler Shell, who also gained a RE title on her other Lappie Soaks! Great to see the Lappies shining in the performance arena so early in the year.

Barn Hunt success for Tahvo
Well here is something different!!! Off in the USA, Tahvo (Am Gr Ch & Can Gr Ch Armahani Diamond Davvenasti CA) had a turn at Barn Hunt!
Not something we have over here, I believe it is a sport which involves finding a rat!!!I'm assured no rats are harmed during the event ;)
Tahvo was a natural apparently, earning his instinct title, and then two of the three passes he needed to gain his novice title.
Trust one of the Diamonds to excel at a sport none of the rest of us have heard of!!

Koda is looking for his new home
We had an unexpected event today with 10 month old Koda (Armahani Fireopal Fitmat) returning to Armahani until he can find his forever home.
If you are interested in knowing more about Koda, please refer to our Current Treasure page.
In the meantime he is settling in with Emmi and Louis and making himself at home for a while.

Two Intermediates in Group for Lumi
To top off a fantastic year, in both the show and performance rings, the young Lumi (Ch Armahani Diamond Davvir (AI) CD RN JD) ended this weekend with two Intermediate in Groups.
The first on Friday at the Cooma and District Kennel and Obedience Club under New Zealand judge Mr K Brown - quite an achievement given there are currently no Lapphunds showing in New Zealand.
And the second today under Queensland judge Mrs P McLeod at the Far South East Kennel Club.
Well done to Lumi and Bianca!

A second Rally Excellent pass for Mischa
It was our lovely cream princess Mischa's (Aus Ch & Neut Ch Armahani Bloodstone Bilaidit RA) turn today to continue her superstar ways with owner/handler Shareen. She was out at a rally trial this evening - one of the last of the year - at KCC Park.
There she earned her second Rally Excellent pass, taking her two thirds to her RE title.
Great job Mish and Shareen!

Tahvo earns his Coursing Ability title
The very clever Tahvo (Am Gr Ch, Can Gr Ch Armahani Diamond Davvenasti) joined his brother and sister in adding a title to the back of his name this weekend in the USA! And doing it in a novel way, with a sport none of the other Armahani kids have tried yet, gaining his three qualifying runs for his Coursing Ability (CA) title in Lure Coursing!
Way to go Tahvo and Kathy!
I've only ever engaged in a little bit of lure coursing with Louis before at fun days (and boy oh boy has he had FUN when we've done it). But I hear titled competitions will be commencing in Australia soon, so I'm sure Tahvo's siblings might long to give it a go.

Louis earns his RAE title
Our last trial of the year today, and we did it! Louis earned his final two "double" Advance B and Excellent B passes today to earn his Rally Advanced Excellent (RAE) title. So, once the paperwork has been sorted he will now be Sup Ch C'est Louis Armstrong des Chevaloupsgreg CD RAE HSAs (Imp USA)!
This title requires 10 passes at both the Advanced B and Excellent B level at the same trial, so is quite the effort. Louis has managed it in 10 straight trials, with mainly scores over 190 (with the exception of a couple of minor bloopers on my behalf).
His passes today were under judge F Brueckner of 93 in Advanced and 93 in Excellent. And then under judge R Ashman of 95 in Advanced with a 2nd place, and 87 in Excellent (one of those bloopers!)
SO proud of my little man. For now we will take a break from Rally and concentrate on some other training.

Catching up with some Armahani babies at the FLCV picnic
We took ourselves off to a Finnish Lapphund Club of Victoria picnic today, the first one in a little while, in the beautiful surrounds of Albert Park Lake.
It was lovely to see a couple of our precious Armahani babies there, with Freya (Armahani Goldstone Geassi) making a brief appearance, and wowing us with what a beautiful girl she is becoming. And spending a bit more time were the lovely Kajo (Armahani Heliodorr Hohde) and mischievious Bear (Armahani Heliodorr Henki).
It is always a pleasure to see how our babies are growing. Thanks to their owners for bringing them down today!

Showing at the Sunbury Cup Weekend
A big weekend of showing over the Melbourne Cup long weekend. We were out on the Sunday and Tuesday (Monday being our volunteer day at the Vic Women's Dog Club show).
This is one of the special occasions that the "old timers" come our with me. And they did it in style, with Louis (Sup Ch C'est Louis Armstrong des Chevaloupsgreg CD RE HSAs (Imp USA) taking out a 23 Best of Breed at the Working Dog Club of Victoria, and following it up with Runner Up Best of Breed at the Sunbury Kennel Club. Emmi (Grand Ch Lumiturpa Emmi CCD RE JD HT (Imp Fin)) at her last show in normal classes, was Runner Up Best of Breed behind Louis at the Working Dog Club show.
We also had a few youngsters out. On Sunday, Koda (Armahani Fireopal Fitmat) did me very proud going Minor Puppy of Breed, repeating his effort on Tuesday. Also on Sunday I had Bennigan (Armahani Heliodorr Hulivili) with me who was Best Baby Puppy of Breed, and then Tuesday Tortik (Armahani Heliodorr Halu) also joined us, deciding it was his turn for Best Baby Puppy of Breed.
A great weekend, but a very long one!

A weekend of successful showing and Tahvo earns his American Grand
It was quite the weekend for me, back in the show ring myself having fun with some of the youngsters and not so youngsters.
Yesterday I went to the Bendigo Agricultural Show Society Show, taking with me Bennigan (Armahani Heliodorr Hulivili) co-owned with Vanessa Brotto, for my first go at handling him. I was pretty thrilled when he earned Best Baby in Group under judge Ms P Suhr (NSW). I also had with me Vanessa's older boy Flame (Kalevi Fire and Flame) and was very happy to help him gain his last points for his title as well as see him to an Intermediate in Group.
The icing on the cake was earning 3rd place in the Puppy Sweepstakes with handsome Koda (Armahani Fireopal Fitmat) in a large and competitive line up under judge Ms M Clegg (VIC).
Today it was the other end of town, at KCC Park. And time for Kirra (Armahani Crystal Cumma) to shine with a Best Neuter in Group under judge Mr Ian Spangler (SA).
But the truly exciting news came overnight, with Tahvo earning his American Grand Championship with his final major win, and capping it off with a Owner Handler in Group 3rd! Way to go Tahvo, who is now Am Gr Ch & Can Gr Ch Armahani Diamond Davvenasti.

Lumi goes Best in Group
The rather fabulous Lumi (Ch Armahani Diamond Davvir CD RN JD (AI)) did it again today, taking our Best in Group (and Best Intermediate in Group) at The Rock Show Society in NSW under Victoria judge Ms M Gostelow.
After a run of Runner Up in Groups, we couldn't have been more thrilled to see him and Biance "crack it".
This is Lumi's forth Best in Group win. So proud of this young man!

Baby Puppy in Group for Kajo
It was time for our littlest star, the ever adorable Kajo (Armahani Heliodorr Hohde (AI)) to shine today, winning Best Baby in Group at the Geelong Royal Show under SA judge S Schwerdt (SA).
Way to go Kajo and co-owner/handler Mel!
This is the same judge who awarded Louis Runner Up Best in Show at the Victoria Spitz Breeds Champ Show earlier this year, and we certainly appreciate his recognition of our breed.

Braving the winds for another RAE pass for Louis
In gale forced winds, which resulted in lots of laughter, if nothing else, we spent another day at a rally-o trial at the Melton Dog Obedience Club. I think the handlers had to work harder than the dogs today, to keep their attention in such a distracting environment, and I was no exception.
But despite the "wind fairies" making it pretty hard for his brain cells to work properly, Louis (Sup Ch C'est Louis Armstrong des Chevaloupsgreg CD RE HSAs (Imp USA)) still managed to gain us another RAE leg.
It wasn't his best performance, with 95 in Advanced B under F Bruekner and 87 in Excellent B under judge L Klecka, but a pass is a pass, and we have to be happy with that.

Another Melbourne Royal for Armahani
It was a busy Melbourne Royal this year, for us with a number of our kids having their Royal debuts.
While we didn't take out any of the big awards this year, we came home with a few ribbons, with the Armahani kids making me proud.
It was a baby reunion with Bennigan (Armahani Heliodorr Hulivili), Tortik (Armahani Heliodorr Halu), Digger (Armahani Goldstone Ginttal), Topsy (Armahani Heliodorr Haave) and Kajo (Armahani Heliodorr Hohde) all in the ring for Baby Puppy. In the boys, Tortik was placed 1st and Bennigan 2nd. In the girls, Kajo was 1st, Topsy 2nd, and Digger 3rd. At the end of the day Tortik took out honours for Best Baby Puppy of Breed, and I couldn't have been prouder of how this little boy is going in only his third show.
My Fireopal gods Koda (Armahani Fireopal Fitmat) and Mika (Armahani Fireopal Fapmu) were up in the puppy class at just 7 months, being the youngest out there in a big class of 8 male pups, and looking it in every way as they go through a rather awkward phase. Still, I couldn't have been happier with how they both performed, after a shocking display of naughtiness the last time they were in the ring, they both made a massive improvement. Mika, even got pulled unofficially into a 4th placing, so I was really thrilled with that.
Louis (Sup Ch Ce'st Louis Armstrong des Chevaloupsgreg CD RE HSAs (Imp USA)) was 1st in the Open Dog class, which was quite a surprise given I had been suggesting to everyone coming up to the show that I didn't expect him to the the type the judge would go for. Taija (Ch Armahani Crystal Cuovgat) in her first show since having babies was 3rd in the Aus Bred Bitch class, and Emmi (Grand Ch Lumiturpa Emmi CCD RE JD HT (Imp Fin)) was 1st in the Open Bitch class.
Congratulations to Kim, with DCC and BOB for her boy Arley (Ch Finnesse Aim For Fame (AI)), for Mel with RDCC, RUBOB and Best Puppy of Breed with Archie (Lempo Avenging Archie), Shaun for BCC with Millie (Kalevi Danish Katrine) earning her Australian Champion title, and Sarina for RBCC with Reja (Ukkonen Sirius Impact).

More Armahani success this weekend
Another enormous Armahani weekend with a number of new titles earned.
Yesterday Lumi (Ch Armahani Diamond Davvir (AI) CCD JD) was again a superstar at the Kyeamba Kennel and Training Club's obedience and rally trial, earning not one, but two new titles! He gained his Companion Dog (CD) obedience title with his third quallie of 188/200 and 1st place under judge Mrs J Van Der Vegt, and his Rally Novice (RN) title with his thrid quallie of 97/100, also a 1st place, under Mrs L Dibbin. Way to go Lumi!
Today is was our turn, out with Emmi and Louis at the Northern Obedience Dog Club's obedience and rally trials. In the morning trial Emmi earned her third rally excellent qualification with a score of 87 and a 1st place, which gives her her RE title. Louis competed in both morning and afternoon trials, gaining two more RAE legs with Advanced passes of 94 (2nd) and 95 (3rd) and Excellent passes of 97 (2nd) and 95 (3rd).

An enormous weekend for Armahani
What an incredible weekend it was for team Armahani!!
First came the baby boys yesterday, Bennigan (Armahani Heliodorr Hulivili) and Dusty (Armahani Heliodorr Hausku) having their first shows - Bennigan in Victoria and Dusty in NSW. Fantastic debuts for both of them with Bennigan earning Best Baby Puppy in Group, and Dusty taking out Best Baby Puppy of Breed amongst some lovely older competition! Well done to their owners Vanessa and Anisia!
In the Rally-O ring, Veikko (Ch Armahani Diamond Dansut (AI) ET HT FDX) was out again, doing an absolutely brilliant job to take home her second and third Novice qualifying scores, and her RN Title, with scores of 99 and 97 both with a first place, at the Central Coast Dog Obedience Training Club's rally trial in NSW.
Brother Lumi (Ch Armahani Diamond Davvir (AI) CCD JD) not to be outdone, was showing in Condobolin in NSW, clocking up another Runner Up Best in Group and an Intermediate in Show.
Today Lumi did it again, with a second Runner Up in Group!!
And today we were out again in the Rally-O rings at the Moorabbin & District Obedience Dog Club's trial, with Emmi (Gr Ch Lumiturpa Emmi CCD RA JD HT (Imp Fin)) making up for her performance of last week with a qualifying score in Excellent A of 78. And Louis (Sup Ch C'est Louis Armstrong des Chevaloupsgreg CD RE HSAs (Imp USA)) again showing what a star he is with an Advanced B score of 99 and an Exellence B score of 96, both earning him first place in ring.

Rally success for Louis
After a first half of the year (plus some!) dedicated to puppy raising, today was our first time back out in the performance arena this year. It seems hard to believe it is almost a year since we were competing in Rally!
We chose as our return the Bendigo Obedience Dog Club's triple trial, with Louis (Sup Ch C'est Louis Armstrong des Chevaloupsgreg CD RE HSAs (Imp USA)) entered in trial A & C, and Emmi (Gr Ch Lumiturpa Emmi CCD RA JD HT (Imp Fin)) just in trial B.
It wasn't quite Emmi's day with lots of "interesting" bloopers to entertain. However, Louis was a real star, earning two legs toward his RAE title.
In trial A he earned a score of 91 in Advanced B under judge H Diamond, and a score of 96 and 2nd place in Excellent B under judge Y Ross. Then in trial C, a massive score of 100 (our first perfect score) in Advanced B under judge Y Ross, earning a 1st place and Highest Score in Trial, and then a 91 in Excellent B under judge R Ashman.

Digger has her show debut
The first of the pups from our recent litters, the super adorable Digger (Armahani Goldstone Ginttal) had her show debut today.
Digger lives in the Canberra area, with Linda, and had a great time today making friends with the other local Lappie girls. She also becomes the first sable Lappie to hit the show ring in Australia, fittingly in the same place the first ever Lappies to Australia lived and were shown.
Apparently she did a fantastic job, with lots of positive comments from the judge. We wish Linda all the best with this adorable munchkin, and look forward to cuddles again in late September!

New titles for our diamond stars Veikko and Lumi
It was another weekend where our Diamond babies were true stars in the performance arena, with a couple of new titles earned for their efforts.
Lumi (Ch Armahani Diamond Davvir CCD(AI)) started the effort, yesterday earning his second Novice Obedience (CD) qualifying score at the Wangaratta Kennel & Obedience Club under judge Mr R Carlson. He followed that up today in the agility ring, earning his third (and final) Jumping Dog (JD) qualifying round under judge Mr J Brown, and a 1st place, giving him his JD title.
Sister Veikko (Ch Armahani Diamond Dansut HT FDX (AI)), only six weeks after giving birth to seven babies, had the challenge of taking her Endurance Test (ET), which is a 20 km time qualifying run split into three legs. That she did it with great ease, ready to keep going, just attests to how fit she was before her "maternity leave". This gives her an ET title to add to the back of her rapidly growing name.
What little stars these Diamonds are!

Saying goodbye to the Goldstones and Heliodors
Over the last two weeks we have been gradually saying good bye to our Goldstone and Heliodor babies - always a bitter sweet time. Our last baby, gorgeous Dusty - or Hyperion while he was here - little Hippo over the last week - (Armahani Heliodorr Hausku) flew out for his home in Sydney, leaving the house very quiet. It is always having one last pup to lavish attention on for an extra week, but boy does it tug on the heart strings when they go!
Eventually I will get individual pages up for them all and finalise their litter pages, but in the meantime ....
From the Goldstone litter, staying in Victoria is Nugget (who has kept his name) with owners Nadia and Nath, Tiger (Rush) with the Van Zyl family, Willow (Shimmer) my very special girl who early on won my heart, with Lauren, and Freya (Leaf) with Brooke and Michael. Interstate are Midas (keeping his name) in Tasmania with Yasmin, Digger (keeping her name) with Linda in the ACT, and Cricket (Halo) in NSW with the Whittard family.
Four of the Heliodors are staying in Victoria - Kajo (Eos) with Mel and James, Bennigan (Apollo) with Vanessa, Tortik (Helios) with Kat and CJ, Bear (Heracles) with Marty and Julia. Topsy (Alectrona) is in Tasmania with Kathy and Troy, and Dusty (Hyperion) is in NSW with the Plaskitt family.
A few of these babies we hope to see out in the show ring - some on special occasions, others a little more often. But most imortantly all have lovely homes with owners who have already fallen under their special spell. Bye bye babies. First Mum will miss you all!

The diamond duo are on fire in the performance rings
Over the last two weekends our Diamond kids have been on absolute fire in the performance rings!
Last weekend little Veikko (Ch Armahani Diamond Dansut HT FD), only just home after mothering duties, earned her first Rally-O qualification with a great score of 90 points.
This weekend her brother Lumi (Ch Armahani Diamond Davvir CCD) followed in her footsteps with his first two qualifications with scores of 87 and 86.
But Veikko was not to be outdone, back in with her Flyball team this weekend, and earning the points she needed for her Flyball Dog Excellent title.

Tahvo at the Canadian Finnish Lapphund specialty weekend
On the other side of the world handsome Tahvo (Am & Can Grand Ch Armahani Diamond Davvenasti) has been representing us at the Canadian specialty weekend, and what a time he has had.
As well as the specialty show itself, there were three all breeds shows over the weekend, and Tahvo was BOB at two of the three, going on to win a Group 2 and a Group 3.
At the specialty show, under very well respected Finnish specialist Marja Talvitie, he was awarded Select Dog (second placed male), with apparently some very positive feedback given. Always special to do so well at a specialty show, but 100 times more exciting under such an esteemed judge for Lapphunds.
We couldn't be prouder! Congratulations to owners Linda, Kathy and Gene.

Rally success for Dolce and MIscha
Our special pair Dolce (Ch Armahani Crystal Caibmat RN) and Mischa (Ch & Neuter Ch Armahani Bloodstone Bilaidit RA) were out being stars today at their first rally trial in Melbourne, after having moved here from Canberra late last year.
At the Hastings and Obedience Dog Club's trial, Dolce was in the Advanced A ring, earning his second RA qualification under Ms L Piper with a score of 88. While Mischa earned her first Excellent A qualification under Ms K Houldon with an awesome score of 97.
A big congratulations to owner/handler Shareen who does so well with these wonderful kids.

Lumi is RUBIG at the border challenge
This weekend is the annual Border Challenge between the Finnish Lapphund Club of Victoria and the Finnish Lapphund Club of NSW, held at three shows run by the Deniliquin Kennel Club. A great fun weekend, it was really dissapointing to have to miss it this year, with two litters of puppies needing my care.
However, we were really pleased to hear the news that Lumi (Ch Armahani Diamond Davvir CCD (AI)) was Best of Breed at today's show, and went on to win Runner Up Best in Group under judge Mrs B Ballam (QLD)!
Way to go Lumi and Bianca!
Update 22 June 2014: Lumi went on to be awarded second place in the overall point score for the weekend

Louis goes BISS at the Finnish Lapphund Club of Victoria Championship Show and RUBIS at the Victoria Spitz Breeds Club Championship Show
Yesterday we took a break from puppy duties, thanks to my Mum who pup-sat the girls and their babies for the day, to attend the Finnish Lapphund Club of Victoria's championship show, and the Victorian Spitz Breeds Club Championship Show. A great (albiet LONG!) day with wonderful friends who yet again I feel I hardly got to speak to. I had five dogs out this year, Emmi and Louis, along with beautiful Kirra (Armahani Crystal Cumma) who makes me laugh everytime I take her into the ring with her sheer joy, and our two Fireopal Boys.
At the FLCV show it was Louis' year, making me very proud by going BEST IN SHOW. Following up from Emmi's Best in Specialty Show in NSW two months ago! Congratulations to Robyn, Sue and Wayne going RUBISS with his daughter Pink (Ch Janoby Frilly Nickers), to Mel going RBCC with his other daughter Quinn (Ch Kalevi Cheri Flora HT), and of course to Kim who took to RDCC with the very handsome Arley (Ch Finnesse Aim For Fame), who was lovely to see for the first time all grown up!
Our other results were Mika (Armahani Fireopal Fapmu) going Best Baby Puppy in Show his first ever time in the ring, in one of our best ever baby lineups in my opinion (big thanks to Shell for her great handling of him). And lovely Kirra taking Neuter in Show.
On to the Spitz show, and Louis was obviously on fire, again taking DCC and Best of Breed. Emmi gave him a run for his money, with the BCC. Congratulations again to Pink taking the RBCC, and to Ros & Col with their boy Riki (Sup Ch Theldaroy Anyone Dare To Diffa) taking RDCC and RUBOB.
In Baby Puppy, it was brother Koda (Armahani Fireopal Fitmat)'s turn, placing second in the baby puppy dog class. Kirra took another neuter challenge, taking her half way to her title.
We also had a beautiful Bloodstone - our lovely Mish (Ch & Neut Ch Armahani Bloodstone Bilaidit) - taking 2nd place in neuter bitch in both shows with Shareen. And a handsome Diamond - the lovely Lumi (Ch Armahani Diamond Davvir CCD (AI)) - 3rd in Intermediate dog in the FLCV show, and 2nd in the Spitz show with Bianca.
But the day didn't quite end there, coming into the ring for the end of the day with the Spitz show general specials. There Louis blew me away going RUNNER UP BEST IN SHOW in a spectacular line up of beautiful spitz breeds. It must be close to 10 years since a Lappie has managed to cracked that one at the Vic Spitz show, so it was certainly a very big thrill!

Our Heliodor babies are born
After a rather sleepless night and a long day, Mutkis (Lapinlumon Muotkakukka HT (Imp Dmk)) gave birth to the Heliodor babies mid this afternoon. We had a range of helpers on hand over the time period with Megan from Aetherglow Kennels doing the overnight shift and just missing the birth of the first puppy, Vanessa from Articmal Kennels arriving in time for the first four pups to be born, and my mum helping throughout, especially for the last two pups!
The sire of this litter is the handsome Rev (UK, Int, Fin Ch Glenchess Revontuli) and we welcome four special boys and two special girls, including the first brown pups born at Armahani.
Their own page can be found via our Current Treasure page.

Our Goldstone puppies are born
Very early this morning our precious Veikko (Ch Armahani Diamond Dansut HT FD (AI)) gave birth to our Goldstone puppies. After a long stage one labour starting late Saturday night, and with some reluctance to present the first pup, Veikko then went into overdrive, with seven pups all born within an hour and half of one another!!
It was certainly awesome to have both Veikko's owner Shell, and Shareen from Caleebra Kennels here, because we needed all three pairs of hands to manage that speed!
Veikko and Tiko (Fin Ch Hiidenlahden Tiko) have four gorgeous girls (two sable and two black and tan) and three handsome boys (two sable and one black and tan). All seven are going really well and Veikko is doing a super job of caring for them.
Their own page will be put up shortly and will be found via our Current Treasure page.

This weekend was the agility debut for Lumi (Ch Armahani Diamond Davvir CCD (AI)) at Wagga at the Kyeamba Kennel & Training Club.
Yesterday he earned his first quallies in both jumping under Mr E Howden with a first place, and agility under Ms P Looker with a forth place.
He then followed up today with another jumping quallie under Ms P Looker, again with a first place.

Our Heliodor litter is expected
Well we thought we wouldn't be quite busy enough (either that or dog breeding this long has finally pushed me over the edge of sanity ;-)), so about 10 days after our precious Goldstones are born, we have confirmed that we will be welcoming our Heliodor litter. These will be more frozen pupsicles.
The dam is lovely Mutkis (Lapinlumon Muotkakukka HT), and the sire is the stunning Rev (Int & Fin Ch Glenchess Revontuli), and we are absolutely thrilled to pieces.
Enormous and continuous thanks to Sarah Ewenson and David Ewenson from Kalevi Kennels for allowing us to lease their precious Mutkis for this very exciting combination - it is truly appreciated. And thanks also to Elaine Short for sending us a little bit of Rev and agreeing to this pairing.
May, June and July will be busy busy months for Armahani! More information can be found HERE and we are welcoming enquiries and expressions of interest.

Saying goodbye to our Fireopal boys
Over the last few days we have been saying goodbye to our precious Fireopal boys, which I'll admit has been more than a little hard given how delectable these cheeky monkeys are. It's certainy hard not to bond when there are only two gorgeous puppies in the litter.
The more the boys grew, the more I found it more difficult to choose between them and decide which had the potential to hit the show ring, because to be honest I felt both of them did. So in the end, we're really thrilled that they both have very lovely homes to be loved and adores, but will stay in co-registration with me and hopefully both join the Armahani team in the show rings in Victoria as they can.
Koda (previously Heph) joins Toni with her older Lappie girl Duchess. We get the feeling that "the girl rules the roost" in Lappie households just might not fit this scenario, and poor Duchess might discover herself being pushed around by this right little character! We are sure they'll soon be the best of friends, and look forward to seeing the handsome Koda as he grows.
Mika (Vulcan) left just this evening, with Liz and Vaughan to be their beloved only child. Liz has owned a Lappie in the past so we've had long conversations along the lines of "now just how laid back was your last boy, because this one might be a little crazier than you are used to!!". Mika is absolutely another cheeky, crazy boy, who I am sure will keep his new family on their toes while showering them with affection and love. We're hoping that he will be able to join us also once we are back out showing again.
Best of luck to these new families! I'll miss my two spoilt monsters aka the Gremlins!

Emmi goes BISS at the Finnish Lapphund Club of NSW championship show
It was a big weekend for us, heading to Sydney for the Finnish Lapphund Club of NSW's inaugural Championship Show. We left early Saturday morning, with Louis and Emmi, picking up Muffin (Armahani Emerald Enkeli) for her first ever show on the way.
It is hardly a surprise that our complete highlight of the day was our beautiful Emmi (Grand Ch Lumiturpa Emmi CCD RA JD HT (Imp Fin) taking out BEST IN SPECIALTY SHOW under judge Dr William Crozier (NSW). We're so proud of this beautiful girl, still strong at 9 years of age!
Other results for our kids included Lumi (Ch Armahani Diamond Davvir CCD (AI)) placing 1st in the Intermediate Dog class (going on to be Best Opposite Intermediate in Show), Muffin taking Puppy in Show unopposed, Louis 2nd in the Open Dog class, and Mischa (Ch & Neut Ch Armahani Bloodstone Bilaidit) 2nd in the Neuter Bitch class.
In the property classes, under judge Ms Slvia Crozier (NSW) I thought it would be fun to enter my first brace competition with Emmi and Louis, with next to no idea what I was doing. While expecting an embarressing tumble, my two kids did me very proud to win the class! Other property class results included Emmi taking Best Headed Bitch, her son Lumi taking Best Headed Dog, Mischa taking Best Coated Neuter, Louis being shortlisted down to the final two for Best Gait, and Emmi being shortlisted down to the final two for Best Coated Bitch.
It was a lovely day, with huge thanks to to the FLCNSW for putting on a great show!

The 'Squitos' will be second generation frozen pupsicles so a little bit of Aussie breed history Thank you Shell for taking such special care of our beautiful Squiggle and enabling a few dreams to come true!
More information can be found on our Future Treasure page and we are welcoing enquiries and expressions of interest.

Louis babies born at Finnesse
The latest litter for our handsome Louis (Supreme Ch C'est Louis Armstrong des Chevaloupsgreg CCD RE HSAs (Imp USA)) was born today in South Australia at Finnesse Kennels, to the lovely Ella (Ch Findol Fade to Black).
This was the litter we honestly didn't think would happen when everything seemed to go wrong at mating time, but we're happy to be surprised with six precious babies - two girls and four boys.
A big congratulations to Kim at Finnesse. Can't wait to see the photos as these babies grow.

Dolce pups born at Snofyre
A big congratulations to Snofyre Kennels in New South Wales on the birth of their latest Lappie litter to Ch Articmal Dynamic Fortune (Aurora-Rose), sired by our very own Dolce (Ch Armahani Crystal Caibmat).
Three precious babies made it into the world, two girls and a boy, and while their start has been a bit of a challenge, we wish Chrissy all the best for their ongoing growth and development.
Looking forward to seeing these beautiful kids in the future.

Great results from the FLCNSW performance pointscore
We had some very exciting news today with the announcement of the Finnish Lapphund Club of NSW performance pointscore results for 2013.
The FLCNSW run both a State based and national performance pointscore, and it was a thrill indeed that our Louis (Sup Ch C'est Louis Armstrong des Chevaloupsgreg CD RE HSAs (Imp USA)) took out the honours of being 1st in the national competition.
But a little unexpectedly was hearing that 2nd place went to our beautiful Emmi (Gr Ch Lumiturpa Emmi CCD RA JD HT (Imp Fin)), and 3rd place to Mischa (Aus Ch & Neut Ch Armahani Bloodstone Bilaidit RA), which also made her 1st place in the NSW competition.
Particularly proud of our beautiful Mish and her owner and handler Shareen, as 2013 was the first time either of them had particpated in performance sports. Hopefully we'll see many more achievements from this awesome duo!

Our Fireopal boys are born
We welcomed two precious boys into the world this morning, with the birth of the Fireopal lads.
The mother of these boys, is our precious Taija (Ch Armahani Crystal Cuovgat) and the sire the young import Harry (Ch Staalon Wholeheart Harry (Imp Fin)) owned by Miavig Kennels in NSW.
While we were expecting only a singleton pup, we got double the joy, with a second pup who was clearly hiding away on ultrasound. More photos of our boys, Heph and Vulcan (our gods of fire) will be available on the Current Treasure page very shortly.

Myrre's first open jumping pass
Little Myrre (Armahani Crystal Ciegus CD JD HT) was out there shining in Queensland yet again hitting the agility ring to earn her first pass toward her JDX title, topping it off with a first place, earned at the Queensland Agility & Jumping Dog Club Jumping Trial at Durack under judge Sue Eller.
This special girl from our Crystal litter continues to do so well in the performance rings, and we're sure will be supassing her parent's achievements before very much longer.
Huge congratulations to her dedicated owners Anne and Janne. You make us very very proud!

Louis' boys born at Aetherglow
Congratulations to Aetherglow Finnish Lapphunds on the birth of their first litter this evening to their girl Ch Kalevi Autumn Sunshine HT (Tarja). The sire of this litter is our own precious Louis (Sup Ch Ce'st Louis Armstrong des Chevaloupsgreg CD RE HSAs (Imp USA)) and I was lucky to be there to help Megan whelp the babies in the early hours of this morning.
Much to both of our surprise, 5 handsome little boys were born. Louis has a habit of throwing girl babies, with usually only the token single boy in his litters, so an all boy was quite the shock.
I look forward to seeing these babies grow over the coming weeks

A single little Fireopal is expected
Today we confirmed that our Taija (Ch Armahani Crystal Cuovgat) is pregnant to the young and handsome Harry (Ch Staalon Heartwhole Harry (Imp Fin)), with thanks to Sue and Gerard from Miavig Kennels for allowing us to use their boy.
At this stage, it would appear that Taija is only carrying one pup, so we will potentially have a little singleton Fireopal due on the 11 February. More details can be found on the Future Treasure page.
Taija is from our Crystal Litter, from Emmi (Grand Ch Lumiturpa Emmi CCD RA JD HT (Imp Fin)) and Louis (Supreme Ch C'est Louis Armstrong des Chevaloupsgreg CD RE HSAs (Imp USA)). She has had a fair bit of success in the show ring, being awaded Best Opposite Intermediate in Show (to the BISS winner) at our 2012 FLCV Championship show and Best Australia Bred in Show at our 2013 FLCV Championship show, as well as earning the Bitch Challenge at the Royal Melbourne Show in 2013.
Harry is a young good looking boy, recently imported from Finland, with a very different pedigree from most of our dogs here in Australia, and providing some interesting new lines into our breeding program. We think he compliments Taija nicely, and look forward to seeing what this quite different combination produces.
