Sable coloured Finnish Lapphunds aren't that common on the ground, let alone such beautiful specimens as the very handsome Tiko. I first spotted him in a video clip taken of the champion males in a show in Finland, and had a definite wow moment, before promptly doing some quick research to find out who he was and more about him.
It wasn't long before I was talking to his owner Minna-Mari and soon arranging his collection. Tiko lives in the north of Finland, and as the main repro vets are in the south, it was more than a little bit of a cross-country adventure, but I can't think Minna-Mari enough for all of her help in making it happen. Tiko is all male – clearly masculine with a strong, broad head, solid body, big coat. He stands at 50cm tall, so just over the mid range height for a male. His strength and type make you notice him, his balanced structure and movement make you take a second look. He loves his training, participating in a range of dogs sports, and having quite the repertoire of tricks. His bloodlines are very different from most of what is in the show ring in Finland at the moment, and certainly very different from most of what we have in Australia, so he adds some exciting variation to my breeding program. Tiko is the sire of our Goldstone litter. |
