A long time ago, I was very close to importing Kaapro's sire with Vanessa, of Articmal. In the end the deal fell through and we ended going down a completely different importing path. But I have always kept an eye out for progeny from him, and almost ended up trying to get a collection at one time before deciding I'd left it a little too late given his age.
I looked at Kaapro a lot, loving his pedigree. But at that stage I was looking for prcd-PRA clear boys given the mix I had, and for some very strange reason I (wrongly it seems) got it into my head he was a carrier, and dismissed the idea from my thinking. In the meantime, Vanessa ended up importing him herself, and had a lovely litter with him. It was around about that time I was considering future sires for my girl Baby, when he was suggested and I had my false beliefs about his health status corrected! Vanessa and I chatted about him and agreed he'd make an exciting combination with Baby, and she promptly put in an order for a girl pup from the mating. Now that Vanessa has left us, it is hard to know if my heart will let me go ahead with that plan that was really ours together. But whether it is to Baby, or another of my girls, the option is there for a future decision. |
