Well it has been well over a year, but finally Baby (Am Ch Aus Ch CIB Calaban's Dirty Dancing RE ET JC (Imp USA)) got back into competition today. We competed at Geelong Obedience Club's rally trial, doing a double event, for Baby's first time at the Masters level, and my first in heading for five years. There has been a rule change since we last competed, with a number of new stations, so we had a bit to learn and remember, but I shouldn't have doubted that Baby would come to the table. Two very nice performances gave her a 95/100 in the first trial, and a 86/100 in the second (10 points lost from stooopid handler doing the wrong station). Across town, son Leevi (Armahani Kunzite Kuutamo (AI) CCD RE JDX SPD GD ET HT JC was competing in an agility trial, earning a Agility Dog quallie.

Today we confirmed the exciting news that Piper (Ch Armahani Kunzite Kruunu (AI) JC) is expecting the pitter patter of puppy feet in late April. The sire of this litter is our home-bred boy Mika (Armahani Fireopal Fapmu). This will be a pretty special litter for me. Piper is Baby's daughter, and Mika is Emmi and Louis' grandaughter. I just can't wait to meet these babies! Congratulations to Rachael and Fleur (Ch Armahani Iolite Ilo (AI) HT) who earned the last points she needed today to earn her Neuter Championship. And boy did she do it in style, winning Best Neuter in Show twice at a double show. To add to the treat, she did it on her 5th birthday! Edited to add: on 21 March Fleur debuted as Lillian's show dog, where she assisted her earn 1st place in 7-U10 year old junior handlers. Lillian then took it a step further, handling Fleur to Best Neuter in Group. Although the tricks rules in Australia were approved in time for trials to commence in 2020, for obvious reasons, it has taken a while for the sport to be able to take off. Which has meant a bit more training time for everyone. With trials commencing in NSW this year, Squiggle, our performance super star, has very quickly been able to gain her three passes, to earn her Started title. Squiggle, now to be known as Aust Ch Neut Ch Armahani Diamond Dansut (AI) CCD RA ADX JDX SDX SPDX GD HT ET JC WPD FMCh TK.S has a lot of tricks up her sleeve, so I'm sure this is just the first of more success from her. Congratulations Shell and Squiggle. This last weekend, Liina, showing in Tasmania with owner and handler Rachael Holloway of Zuleika Kennels because our latest Australian Champion, and is now known as Ch Armahani Moonstone Movtta (AI). Liina has been doing super well of recently months and weeks, unbeaten for Junior in Group, and with the following show record already under her collar, since shows resumed in Tassie in August of last year: 2 x BIG2 1 x BIG3 1 x Junior in Show 8 x Junior in Group 3 x Puppy in Group We are super excited for this young girl's future! It has been a long time since we've shared any news. With cancellations across 2020, of both events and litters, it was a very different year indeed. My two dogs at home, Baby and Louis, became very used to being at home office dogs, keeping me company underneath my desk each day. And our weekends were spent hanging at home, or taking bush walks when we could. It wasn't until the last part of the year that Liina (Armahani Moonstone Movtta (AI)) and Fleur (Aus Ch Armahani Iolite Ilo (AI) HT), both living in Tasmania where events kicked off sooner than the rest of Australia, became our only two competing Lappies, handled by Rachael Holloway. But they certainly made up for the others. Fleur debuted in the neuter ring, and has been consistently awarded at both the in group and in show level. Liina, one of our youngsters, and having the experience of being a "COVID puppy" from about four to five months of age, had to learn about people and busy events and how to be in the show ring. And she certainly kicked that task, surpassing everyone's expectations at such a young age, and right in the middle of a pretty spectacular junior blow, to take her class in group at almost every show, and now picking up places in the main group as well. She certainly has a bright future in front of her. In the whelping box, COVID meant we delayed the Nacre litter. And then we had to make very quick alternative plans when the semen arriving from overseas was destroyed in transit. Slinky (Aus Ch Armahani Iolite Ihana (AI) ET HT JC WPD FDCh) became the mother of four boys and one girl on the 2 February and you can watch them grow on our Nacre Litter page. The sire is Finnish born, Tori (Am Ch Lecibsin Suoritus). The arrival of these pups means that our own return to the various rings will be delayed somewhat. But we look forward to catching up with our young show team, and competing with Baby, very soon. Benni (Supreme Ch Armahani Heliodorr Hulivili (AI) ET) was representing the Finnish Lapphunds at the Tasmanian Contest of Champions last night. Like the other "top dog" nights across the country, judging is done by three judges, with knock out rounds judged in pairs. Judged by Wendy Baker (SA), Jill McDonald (Vic) & Roger Bridgeford (Vic), it was pretty amazing to keep getting the messages to say Benni had won his round and was through to the next. He eventually finished in the top 4 dogs, only losing when he drew the eventual winner for his round. Huge congratulations Rachael and Benni! As always you make an awesome team! I've been fairly slack of late with updating our news. But over the last few weeks, the three Moonstone pups to be shown have hit the ring. All three have debuted with a Baby Puppy in Group award. Darcy (Armahani Moonstone Mahti (AI)) was first, earning Best Baby in Group at Kilmore Kennel Club on Friday 21 February. Liina (Armahani Moonstone Movtta (AI)) quickly followed with Best Baby Puppy in Group at the Tasmanian Kennel Club on 22 February. And then today was Zarhni (Armahani Moonstone Mainnas (AI))'s turn, with Best Baby Puppy in Group at the Berwick All Breeds Kennel Club. |
