Ressi is a fairly famous Finnish Lapphund, being the first (and so far only) to earn a Working Trial Championship in Finland, as well as for his handsome good looks, and consistent high awarding in the show ring. He is certainly not just a pretty face this one!! I have long been a big admirer of this stunning boy, and have a great deal of excitement to finally have his semen here in Australia for use in our future breeding program.
With the most simply gorgeous teddy bear head, incredible coat and bone, Ressi is certainly a boy it is hard to look past. He is of just superb type! In temperament he is just plain fun! A happy go lucky, michevious puppy-like character (even at 8 years of age!!), with an enormous amount of enthusiasm for his work and every other fun activity life can offer up. My main recollection in taking the photos opposite was how he kept breaking away to find leaves and dirt to roll around in, cheekily grinning at us as he "messed himself up" for the photo taking. Believe me, this is one teddy bear you just want to cuddle!
It was probably mid 2006 when I first started speaking to Taina about the possibility of having semen from Ressi imported to Australia. Almost two years later it has arrived, attending to just how long these processes can take at times. I got to visit Ressi in early 2007 to check him out in the flesh, enjoying the wonderful hospitality and introduction to Finnish customs and culture Taina and her family welcomed me to while I was there. There was really no question on meeting Ressi that we would be going ahead. While I was a little worried whether we would be successful, given Ressi's age, there were no problems, and he was successfully collected from in mid 2008.
Ressi has progeny doing well in both the UK and the USA, as well as in his home country, so we look forward to being able to have some "Aussie" Ressi kids to add to the mix one day. For information about plans for Ressi's future in my breeding program, feel free to Contact me directly.
