Memphis is our gorgeous new arrival, from the famous Sugarok Kennels in the USA. He is jointly owned with my friend Vanessa Brotto of Articmal. He arrived on 19 November 2008 and will have a month in quarantine before living with and being shown by Vanessa. We are both very excited to have this lovely boy join us. He is a beautiful wolf-sable colour, quite a common colour for the breed in the rest of the world, but very rare here in Australia, and we can't think his breeder Linda Marden enough for all she has done to make his presence here a reality.

His history is an unexpected, but exciting one. Originally I had plans to import semen from his beautiful sire, Api, who was owned by the same kennel in Finland where I was already in the process of arranging semen from another of their males. When he was sold and exported to Linda, I quickly rearranged discussions. Unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately) due to Api's age, we unable to get a successful freeze from him. Around the time I had almost given up, Linda's beautiful wolf-sable girl Zoie had a lovely litter from Api. Another long term ambition in the back of my mind had been to eventually import a wolf-sable Lappie, and it surely was fate when not only was the pick boy from Zoie's litter was the most adorable fall-in-love-in-a-second fluffy wolf-sable pup, but when Linda offered him to me.

Of course, timing couldn't be worse, with my kennels unable to take on another boy until we have bigger premises, and I just knew there was no way I could bare to send him too far away. Luckily for me, Vanessa was only too keen to once again co-own a Lappie with me, and offered to take him on. This ensures Memphis will live quite close, and I will get to see him regularly, and show him off myself in the show ring when I can wrestle the lead from Vanessa's hands!

I can't thank Linda enough for sending this beautiful boy to us. He has inherited a lot of his sire's general type, with a lovely strong head already at such a young age. He is a beautiful, structurally sound pup, nicely moderately angulated with a lovely turn of stifle. His colour is a very typical, traditional wolf-sable, finished off with a big white chest and those much coveted eye spectacles. We are sure his presence in Australia is going to create more than a little excitement.

Memphis's sire "Api" is Fin, Can UKC Grand Ch Janmanin Aleksanteri, a stunning older male, who has some spectacular progeny doing well in Finland, the USA and Canada. A fairly dark faced boy, he has an incredibly broad masculine head, luxurious coat, and beautiful breed type. Before he left Finland, he was one of their top winning males, and as a veteran arrived in the USA to promptly amass a number of significant wins, including a Best in Show, and became the first Lappie male to gain his Canadian Championship. His son, Sugarok Born in the USA "Bruce", barely out of the puppy class, is the top winning Lappie in Canada at the moment with a number of group placements behind him.

"Zoie", Memphis' dam is the pretty feminine UKC Grand Ch Sugarok Modern Marvelle. Her own dam's line is from the older, original USA lines, a mix which is just unavailable anywhere else in the world now. She was out of an AI litter from the lovely Fin Ch Kello Reijo, who is behind the early Australian lines, and is the grandsire of my own Kulta. I am very excited about this mix of blood lines and how well it should complement our breeding program here in Australia.

We are very excited to have this lovely boy join us and can't wait to see the "sensation" he is sure to cause!!
